CIAO FRIEND! 

 

Thank you for taking interest & supporting me as I embark on the journey of a lifetime! I am packing up and saying goodbye to the familiar town of Orange and the Chapman campus, and moving to Florence, Italy to study abroad for the next 131 days! 

 

SO WHY FLORENCE? 

 

This certain city interested me because of the balance between old-city tradition and new modern lifestyle. Having vistied Florence once before for a short period of time, I thought that it would be an amazing experience to immerse myself in Italian culture and history, but at the same time experience the new sites, attractions, and works of art that modern-day Italy has to offer.

 

WHAT DO I EXPECT TO GET OUT OF THIS?

 

Having the opportunity to live in another country, I hope to take advantage of studying abroad and fully immerse myself in the culture, become accustomed to a new way of life, and gain perspective on my own world in a way that would not be possible by staying in Orange for the duration of my study. 

 

Beyond my academic pursuits, I expect to personally come out of the experience a changed individual. I hope that taking the chance to live in a foreign country for several months will allow me to gain several intangible skills that will help me better my academic and professional career. Independence, time management, organization, social skills and better self-confidence are all skills that I expect to obtain while abroad.

 

WHERE WILL YOU BE STUDYING?

 

During my time in Florence, I will have the opporunity to study at Lorenzo de' Medici Institute which is located in the heart of the city, I will be taking courses such as travel writing, crossculutral communication in the workplace, body language, event planning, and even an Italian language course!
